Need a bit of help. I have a car at the moment which I believe has the original number plate still fitted - RO11 EHX

I’ve had countless comments that the number plate looks like Rolex. I have no interest in having this so was wondering if it would be worth a few quid to someone else.

I can’t seem to get a solid answer on whether you can sell the original number plate the car was registered with. Anyone know?

You should be able to put it on a retention document, yes.

Yes you can. Put it on retention, DVLA will assign you a replacement registration. Cost £80.
When you have it on retention then sell privately via EBay or via one of the dealers.
Do not show the reference numbers on the retention cert when you advertise (as that is all that is needed for someone to assign the plate to their car).

Anyone that wants that plate would have to be both dyslexic and narcissistic. Stick it on ticktock, it'll presumably sell in minutes.

The owner can transfer the retention certificate via DVLA direct to you at no cost!

I was once contemplating a private number plate, but it turns out it was much cheaper to change my name to R734 MMW.

It does! All that's needed is to cover the 1 and the H entirely with yellow number plate screws.

Stick it on a giant SUV with blacked out windows and jobs a good 'un.

I often see a Golf R32 local that has the plate ROL 3X.
