School boy error.

If you’re gonna hit those speeds M40 or North of Manchester are best bets.

Silly.

The M40 used to be OK, not so much now.

At least the BBC were kind enough to publish the league table.

Good luck, everyone!

That is pretty mental. Anyone with half a brain knows you shouldn't be heading over 85mph on the M25 let alone double that.

In one respect I'm impressed they managed to get that fast, with pointless lane closures and various road works! haha

I used to regard the section anti clockwise after the M26 / A21 split to be good for flooring it ,up the hill but now my current car will just scrub off speed on the uphill , only 45 BHP available .

Crikey! I know that stretch of the M25 very well. Attaining those rates of leptons in the published list is certainly brave. It’s not the smoothest of stretches to and from Swanley.

Clackett lane services is fairly flat but the stretch of M25 is “Smart” motorway so sod doing anything over 80mph with nothing showing on the gantries.

Given that most of those speeds were set near one place was a club of people set up, trying to set a new record? Or was it just one idiot doing it lots of times?

Would love to know the cars involved? Any super/hypercar hire businesses close by?

M45 one of the few roads you can still have a play, bit rough in places so maybe not on elastic band tyres.

Given the balance between anti-clockwise and clockwise speeders, maybe they were just trying to even out the tyre wear?

idea

(factoid: Bedford is one of a few anti-clockwise circuits, useful to know if your track tyres are getting out of parity)

More than likely its about the only bit of the M25 that gets quiet enough to do it, or people annoyed at their Dartford charge/wait time.

The article says that the offenders were caught (presumably by cameras), but there's no mention of prosecutions. I wonder how many were in stolen cars or on false plates?
