I don't want this to get too political, it's more curiosity off the back of watching the news and seeing fresh faced newly qualified doctors saying they have the majority of UK public support with their 35% pay rise demand, is this really accurate though?

Personally, I think it's rather an unjustified demand. Granted, pay may be getting eroded by inflation, but that is true for everyone in the UK. It is also clear that pay hasn't moved in line with inflation for many years, but again, this is true for many in the UK, but 35%!?

When these young doctors struck out on their pathway to becoming a doctor, did they not look at thr wages? Now they stand together shouting about inadequate pay when they have barely started their career, demanding a massive 35%.

I have a few family members that work in the NHS, I support NHS pay rises, but I don't support this.

Just my opinion of course.

Tend to agree - if they'd come in with a realistic request (5-10% - I bet they wont take pay cuts when inflation goes negative....), not used numbers that were so obviously misleading and continued to staff essential areas (e.g. A&E, like nurses did) people would back them a whole lot more
