Hi
I wonder if I can get the forum's help with a little detective work.
My wife has just received a penalty fine notification for not paying the toll for the Dartford Crossing. This came as a surprise as on the date and time, she was staying with friends nearly 300 miles away.

Speaking with a person at Dart Charging or Dept of Transport isn't possible as no phone numbers are available, all you can do is submit objections by an on-line form.

However I think we have a strong case as a) my wife isn't capable of teleporting b) plenty of witness can testify she was in North Yorkshire, and finally the car in the photo isn't hers. She owns a Black 2003 Honda CRV and it doesn't have a roof rack. In my uneducated view, that isn't the car in the photo.

Does anyone recognise, from the admittedly grainy photos, what make/model car it is from the body shape.

We have reported it to the police and the DVLA but it would be helpful to know what car it is.

Thanks

First image looks like the front end of a Mk4 Astra to me

So a Mk4 Astra Estate would be my guess

Are you 100% it's not a plate misread by the camera?

Plate cloners tend to stick to the same make/model

Astra Estate, either somebody has cloned your reg and put it on a completely different car (in experience they clone plates off the same cars) or they have miss read the plate.

Initially thanks to all contributors, much appreciated.

We think a neighbour where my wife was staying overnight has a CCT camera which would show her arrival the previous night. So that can be obtained if necessary. Plus she has store receipts from when she went shopping a couple of hours after the supposed time she was crossing the bridge.

An Astra estate seems to be the favourite, which is surprising as I had read that these people choose similar cars and colours.

My concern is this person buys petrol and scarpers it or is speeding.

Anyhow, as mentioned, we have informed the Police and written to the DVLA so its on some kind of alert list. I guess we might be flagged down a few times now but the nice police officer said she would put a note on the file saying we live in Norfolk.

Thanks again
