Hi all,
I haven’t had a recall YET for my 2016 bmw but the drivetrain error came up and I took it to a local garage and they’ve told me it’s an EGR issue and to take it to BMW as it’s a common problem with some models! Has anyone had this and did BMW sort it?
Many thanks

We had the EGR related recall carried out on our F31 335d, a day later had the drivetrain error pop up and has been intermittent ever since (mainly when accelerating from cold). BMW have advised that they will run some diagnostics at our cost, if its linked they will resolve and refund us the cost... not totally convinced it will be that clear cut. Its booked in a few weeks so we shall see..

Diesel? Guess so.

Oddly, my 2015 328d wagon (US model 2.0TD) had the EGR cooler and valve system replaced on friday under a recall. I bought the car with an open recall on it, knowing that BMW was legally on the hook to get it sorted. Got the paperwork through and booked it in - all done zero cost. The US does these recalls slightly differently, but would be good to see what BMW has in place for recalls around this and check what the status is.

Glad you got yours sorted Which they should rightly!! I called and asked and they’ve told me mine not “due” a recall yet but I’m having issues with it and it’s definitely related so not sure where I stand with this! Not fair for me to pay to sort it when it’s a common fault and it’s not like my mileage is high either (30k)

Whilst it may not be due a recall there is / was a BMW Group "Service Action In Case of Customer Complaint"
SACC 011056

In relation to the EGR cooler

It covered all models with B37,B47and B57 engiines up to 10 years old and unlimited mileage

One of the symptoms listed is"reduced engine power with accompanying message or warni

Basically if confirmed that is the issue repairs should be covered by BMW goodwill
