Just wondered.

If you had an accident in a vehicle not owned by you (which you were insured on) what would the fault claim loading be on your own insurance? 10%,20?

The accident is part of your driving history.
Not dependant on who owned the vehicle you had the accident in.

I doubt there's a hard and fast % that could be applied. Partly depends on how big an incident it was and how "at fault" you were. Writing a car off being an utter tool they'll probably crank up the premium as much as they can, reverse into something through a bit of inattention and probably less so. Even then it probably changes between insurers.

When the insurance co ask you if you have had any accidents in the last X years they don't caveat by saying "in cars you own and have taken out the insurance on" all they care about is the type of accident and value of the claim. So if it was a fault accident with a high payout it will impact you more than a non fault accident with a low payout.
