40th birthday gift for petrolhead husband
Discussion
Hello, I'm looking for some help with a 40th birthday gift for my husband. He loves LeMans, Nurburgring, etc as well as WRC and F1. For a birthday a few years ago I bought us tickets to a Monza F1 race, which went down really well. Unfortunately Lemans tickets for this year are sold out and we're not free Nurburgring dates.
Do any of the following sound like good gifts? I'd like to stick fairly close to the UK as we have a toddler who will be looked after by grandparents who can only manage a few days.
WRC - is this a good live spectator sport? He likes watching it but I haven't heard him mention wanting to go.
1. WRC in Finland - apparently the fastest WRC track but I've got no idea whether that's important! Also looks tricky to get to
2. WRC in Athens - again, worth going to?
F1
3. Spa F1 race - I think I've heard him say this is a legendary track?
Other
4. I think Lemans would be best but I can't find tickets anywhere - are there re-sale sites?
Any other suggestions very welcome too! Are there any good places to visit for car-lovers outside of races etc?

Some kind of VIP access to Goodwood Festival of Speed?
That one sounds the one with the least moving parts. And there’s enough there to satisfy any particular car interest.
There’s so much to see that something with an overnight stay might be worth considering.
This also makes for better enjoyment of ‘hospitality’ without any breathalyser concerns.
Spa is a brilliant circuit. Maybe the grandstand opposite one of the big screens if you can.
Monaco Vintage Grand Prix weekend is also pretty awesome.
Goodwood revival is another great event especially if you dress accordingly.
Thruxton offers driver experience days. They used to run Ferrari 458s

Not for this year, but next birthday there is the Monaco Historic Grand Prix 2024 · Friday 10th - Saturday 11th - Sunday 12th May 2024
I missed that this is next year. I did 2006 staying in the Fairmont. It was brilliant. Got some great pics of the Ferrari pile up at the Fairmont hairpin.sarahb083 said:
Thank you! Lots of great ideas. I like the track day idea. He's done Thruxton. Are Brands Hatch and Palmer sport any good?
Palmer used to be great so I'd highly recommend looking at them. I did it at Bedford 5 times i think.
They actively try to get drivers to push themselves to the limit. They never used to be bothered if it wrong and the car spun.
The variety of cars was great too including single seaters.

Santa Pod Raceway. Zero to a hundred in less than one second; terminal speeds of over 300mph. The sound alone will blow your socks off.
Love the idea of that. How about Le Mans Classic? Though perhaps he's a bit young for that.
