Insurance renewals 2023

Did I miss the news that premiums have gone bonkers? No changes, just the 70% increase please.
15 mins on a comparison site and these appear to be pretty much the best I'll get.
If nothing has changed then yes that increase sounds very lumpy.15 mins on a comparison site and these appear to be pretty much the best I'll get.
What did they say when you called them to ask for better terms ?
My 1-series is down this year (and on the previous year) after I tried to cancel my auto-renewal and they got super helpful in almost matching my best comparison site quote. Do agree that general trend seems to be significantly up though. Waiting to see what the renewal on our 13 year old 107 comes in at this year

My 3-car policy from Admiral went up by 50% this year (£1k to £1.5k). Taking child A off (21, student, doesn't use the car) brought it down £150. Taking child B off (18, learner, decided she doesn't want to drive) reduced it by £80. Taking them both off reduced it by £500 back down to £1k.
I'll never understand insurance premiums.

Email arrived this morning, will give them a ring later.
Good luck for that - " obviously " don't mention any comparison prices in case the bluff is called but instead concentrate their minds on the fact that a 63% increase with absolutely nothing changed is not " treating the customer fairly ".When they start to bang on about everything costs more etc just tell them you know that but only to the tune of say 10% which would appear more reasonable.
Then don't say anything more until they ( hopefully ) come back at you with a reduced price.
The only other way of perhaps getting the price down might be to agree a more limited mileage for each of your cars but obviously not one to cause you issues.
Mine has been consistently cheaper year on year since 2017 (and I usually ring to chip even more off) but this January it was way up and they wouldn’t budge. The renewal price they originally offered was even cheaper than anything on comparison sites for me too this year. I was surprised.
Was with LV many years ago, been with almost all of them like most on here I guess.
Quote comes back almost exactly the same as Admiral renewal.
Saw this on the quote, seems a bit off: "Not using an LV= recommended repairer? You’ll pay an extra £200 excess." That's on top of the £400 compulsory excess and whatever voluntary you've chosen.

Likewise. I've had to pay more and shopping around didn't help one bit. Just renewed 2 of mine MX5 up £3 to £144, RX400h down from £235 to £145. MX5 with the same supplier as last year (second year with them) RX had to change as is always the case when you get to the 3rd year the price goes crazy they quoted £457 got the same cover for £145.
Just change company.
Just change company.
