I read some time ago that if you have the ball inside your headlight for main beam and you want to upgrade to LED bulbs, then you should get a specific type of LED bulb, I think its one where the LED is at the tip of the bulb rather than the side?

Can anyone confirm this being true?

Both my H7 halogen bulbs have gone and I want to opt for non eye dazzling LED upgrade.

YES i know its an MOT failure if the tester spots it....etc.

Projector headlights. Yes they can use LED bulbs or an HID kit.
Avoid cheap Chinese bulbs. Buy a decent make and they'll be great. I have an HID kit in my Freelander 2 from Autobulbsdirect. Total night and day (see what I did there?) difference. Mot'd with no issue. The best £60 I've spent on my car.

I have put h7 Philips ultinon9000 bulbs in the projector headlight in my mk2.5 kuga. They are expensive but they work well!

I get the feeling that if the rules were to catch up with the technology then they would be the best bulbs you could get.

Twenty 20 LED bulbs have an MOT pass beam pattern, absolutely the same as standard on my 2018 Connect. Very much brighter than the yellow factory nonsense.

I fitted some Philips jobbies to my other half’s 125i. They were £68 from Powerbulbs direct with an offer. They’re loads better than the stty halogens it came with and have passed the last few MOT’s just fine.
