Warranty work wait - am I being unreasonable?
Discussion
My car went in for a service at the supplying dealer. It's a big service, so they said they'd need the car overnight. No problem, as they provided a courtesy car.
When I dropped the car off, I mentioned that the EML had come on the day before. They investigated that problem, said it was showing as a NOX sensor fault and they'd replace it. They also said it sometimes shows as one sensor, but other sensors may also be at fault so they'd order those, too. If the NOX sensor cleared the fault, then all's well. They needed the car for a third day, so they could be supplied with the parts - again, not a problem as I could keep the courtesy car.
10 days later, the EML comes on again. I spoke to the service people, explained that they'd already looked at the EML problem, and asked them to book it in again.
The earliest they can see it is 10th August, 2-1/2 months away. They said it's OK to carry in driving it, as it's only an amber light (which makes you wonder what's the point if it makes not a jot of difference to how it drives!). The car doesn't have an easy life (it's 2 years old and has now done 67000 miles), and I've at least 2 trips to Ireland coming up.
We're thinking of getting rid, but can't because of the warning light, and we're now stuck until August when we hope they'll be able to fix it for more than a week or so.
Am I being unreasonable in expecting them to look at it before then?
Rant over.

What manufacturer is it? If it's under warranty do you also get their breakdown cover? If so and you are entitled to a courtesy car - ring it though as a breakdown.
If this gets you into a courtesy car then I dare bet they will be inclined to look at it sooner.
Jaguar, still under warranty. If this gets you into a courtesy car then I dare bet they will be inclined to look at it sooner.
It's not broken down, though I'm tempted to play dumb!
Yeah it's not that important but I bet they'd f
k you for it if you tried to trade a car in to them with an EML on, even if it "is just an orange light"
It obviously isn't right and you're not being unreasonable but there is also not a lot to be done. It does indicate an issue with the engines emissions control systems, and given how touchy adblue diesels can be I'd not be super stoked about piling miles on it with the EML on though. Did you get it in writing from the dealer that it's ok to drive it in this state? Just in case...

Nothing in writing, obviously .... I doubt they'd be that brave!

I guess I'm more annoyed that they investigated the problem, 'fixed' it and said it was all ok, and then 10 days later the same (or similar) problem appears. I've now got to wait another 10 weeks for them to see it again and hope it's fixed: with the way things are going, that fix will last a few weeks and then rinse and repeat.

Jaguar all over really, I love the cars but the dealers do everything in their power to sour the experience and make sure you don't buy another one.
Main dealers all over, not just Jaguar. Mercedes are worse when it comes to NoxIf you have JLR assist give them a call - DPF particle matter sensors play up on these too.
