Hi Guys - Has anyone on here ever done the Wacky Rally...? Its basically buy a banger for £500, decorate it and drive a route through Europe to your destination (normally Barcelona, sometimes Nice or Rimini), whilst doing a sort of treasure hunt en-route.

Not done the Wacky Rally, but did Road2Rimini back in 2008. Very similar concept, though you needed a car for less than £100 back then - we got a Mk2 Scirocco!
The rally itself was ok, route wasn't the best but did include the Stelvio Pass. Organisation was pretty poor - directions and the days challenges were given to you in the mornings so every day was supposed to be a surprise, though the directions were just printed off google maps and photocopied so weren't that great but that wouldn't be a problem today with modern Google Maps.
What really does have the ability to make a banger rally great though is the other teams. Find a good group to convoy with and you'll have a great time.

I totally agree with the fact that the fun comes in sharing the experience with other like-minded people.... and I think we all deserve a bit of fun in our lives!!

Well... we did it....
Whilst perhaps a few (!) beers to the wind, when on a Euro trip with 3 friends, we bought the Wacky Rally !
It's an event that I have done a few times, and the then owner had been running it for almost 15 years, he decided to hang up his driving gloves...
So we now own a rally ..... and not just a rally, a Wacky Rally!
