Hi peeps

I thought I was about to buy a Range Rover but I'm struggling to get insurance and I dont know why. Im old, safe (2 claims in 4 years, same 2 claims in 40 years). Can anyone recommend an insurer in the UK? Many thanks in advance

Not sure 2 claims in last 4 years is necessarily considered “ safe “ but it’s not just you it’s the car.
Obviously depends on what year you are looking at but they seem to be on every scum bags list to steal along with Ferraris.
Some existing established RR insurers are refusing to renew policies and some that are are suggesting excess’s of 5% of value.
I would be suggesting a broker to do all the work for you - A Plan or Locktons or maybe try NFU etc.
There are also lots of specialist brokers out there too - I use Nowell and Richards who are pretty decent although I have no RR experience with them.
Good luck.

Thanks. A couple of specialists have confirmed its the car being the most stolen vehicle in the UK at the moment. Looks like I'll have to find something else. I'm pretty gutted

We struggled when my daughter’s very ordinary car was based at our boat on a secure marina. I found an old established local broker, non corporate, who sorted everything. I became disillusioned with comparison sites, so the main ordinary family estate car is now insured with the Co-op. You can also get members’ discount.

It depends where you live but I’m a broker and trying to cover Range Rovers in London or near any big cities is an absolute nightmare at the moment due to theft risk, as has been said above.

Have you thought about alternatives?

Toyota
Jeep
Mercedes
Lexus
Mitsubishi
Nissan

All more reliable and less likely to be stolen.

Judging by my local (City commuter) high street, bling, status and image trump reliability and stealability.

Would it help get the car insured if it was to be garaged overnight?
