keep seeing a few older cars 10-15 year old stuff badged up motorway maintenance, clearly not used for any sort of work vehicle

are they some sort of walt ? always seem to be steaming along a bit too fast flashing cars out of the way like they are emergency services , i guess at first glance the fluoro stickers make you think that until you realise its a 2004 civic

You can guarantee that any vehicle with 'motorway maintenance' stickers and chevrons on the rear door will always be driven appallingly and far too quickly, its a sure fire knob indicator in my experience.

I don’t think there’s any limit on people who actually work for motorway maintenance using amber beacons and chervrons on their vehicles, when I ordered my works van I could have them despite not working on the roads at all.

Sounds like the driver is just a knob, a amber beacon is for warnings, like the AA, or a slow moving vehicle, only red blue and white are emergency vehicles you actually have to move for.

Still, more than likely better to just move out the way and go on with your day than be tailgated by some meathead in a hi vis late for his date at nandos

See this a lot especially on the motorways, M1, M42 and M5 yesterday saw a few that could not in anyway be connected to Highways Maintenance, the winner yesterday was the Civils and Fibre white van fully marked up with the signs stating Motorway Maintenance, who on the A1 north and the A19 towards teesside at around 6pm reached speeds of close to 90 mph, tailgating cars in the outside lane until they moved over. Moron!

Also seems to then be the right 'camouflage' to whizz up the hard shoulder at stupid speeds to avoid traffic queues too

Absolutely! I'm up and down the M4/M3/M25 and you know as soon as you see 'Motorway Maintenance' they will be driving like total b*stards!

Too fast, too close to the car in front and overly aggressive.

Quite often members of the travelling fraternity. Allows them to park up while 'making enquiries' and hoping to not garner too much attention. I had one engage in proper road rage on the M5 a while back in torrential rain after he was unable to undertake me. As others have said, sure fire indicator of an absolute chopper being behind the wheel.

Will get more common with proper work vans, cars etc as the old fleet are not allowed in the city centres for LEZs they will be forced out to the motorway/rural jobs.
