Yearly running and maintenance costs for performance cars

I’m looking at replacing my Fiesta ST in the next year or so after a relatively (to me) lucrative promotion at work, I’m looking to get something with a bit more prestige (this isn’t a car buying thread)
What I’m curious about, from people with cars like Caymans, Alpines, Boxster, M2, M3 and so on, how ruinous are they on average?
As an example - my ST has Michelin PS4’s and yearly servicing etc and it really doesn’t add up to that much, and with liberal use of the loud pedal it can managed 40-45mpg. I had an RX8 previously that in comparison I would describe as ruinous, less than 20mpg on average and had its fair share of garage trips
Obviously there are horror stories out there about repairs for more ‘prestige’ brands and repair costs, but hoping I can get some kind of consensus before I make more concrete plans on the swap
