Nearly hit by a Bin Truck
Discussion
In situations like that I’ll assume the driver hasn’t seen me for whatever reason and if possible I will try to help out by reversing or whatever to give them some space.
Highly unlikely a bin wagon driver would go rogue and embark on a slow motion killing spree in reverse, so just take a few moments and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Comng out of a cul de sack and a bin wagon stopped and started to reverse it towards me, so I sounded my horn and proceeded , was I in the wrong?
Nope, you were in the right, that's what the horn is for mate ! Contrary to the opinion of most of British drivers where its for use after a near miss to register your displeasure and anger.I used mine as was reversing out of a car parking space the other day at a petrol station, one of those with an M and S inside, stopped to get some lunch, was coming out and the SUV next to be started reversing as I was behind, I gave a polite beep and it stopped briefly, then decided it wasn't anything they were doing so carried on and was about to reverse up my bonnet so they got a full, less polite blast and this time stopped and let me finish my manoeuvre.
I tend to look in my mirrors before reversing, but I am a bit funny like that, I also look out of the front when driving which in some cases seems optional when that view is replaced by looking at a mobile phone, like the builders van coming towards me on my bike the other day on the wrong side of the road as he was starting at his phone.
Had a BMW slowly drift across the road towards me from about 100 yards away. Drifting right into my lane until I stopped, I could see the woman applying lipstick using the vanity mirror on the sun vizor ffs! Gave her a long blast when she was about 20 yards away! Saw her 'jump' in shock so hopefully she had to reapply her lippy!
You're absolutely right, horn as a warning that you are there, he might have caught sight of you in his mirrors or reversing camera but even so no decent vocational driver will get upset about someone confirming their prescence, they'd much rather you did that than having to fill in reams of paperwork if you had collided.
To be fair to the refuse drivers they need eyes up their arse not just for hazardous car parking on corners etc but moving cars bikes scooters plus pedestrians and of course the refuse workers themselves working around the truck.
