Hello all, about to start a new role soon where the new company offers a car salary sacrifice scheme. Does anyone know whether insurance is included, or whether this is payable by the driver/end user? Or does it differ by the company you work for? Cheers.

If you are supplying the car you insure it.

In my situation, the company are supplying the car, including maintenance etc. Just not sure what the score is regarding insurance though.

I would think if the company owns the car then they pay insurance, but its probably best to just ask them to be sure.

NHS Fleet Solutions, used by other public sector bodies as well, includes insurance for up to five people. Doesn't matter who they are or where they live either. Not limited to own household or address.

With our electric car scheme, the insurance is included in the monthly payment that comes off your salary pre-tax. Also includes RFL, maintenance etc. Different scheme may be, well different - best to check directly.

You'd need to check with them, but when I had one, it was fully maintained, taxed and insured as part of the monthly price, which seems fairly common.

Quick question, does your NCB continue, if using the included insurance?

No, as it's not being accrued on your policy. However, when I handed the car back, I asked for a letter stating that I had x years claim free with the salary sacrifice car and the next time I insured my own car, I provided this as proof of NCB as well as my previous NCB from my old policy.

On our scheme, the company insure the car

As an individual, we just fuel it.

Thank you all for your replies. Much appreciated. Makes life a lot easier that they insure the car through the company. Insurance costs are through the roof at the moment even with 12 years NCB.
