Hi all.

I'm thinking about buying a shipping container for storage of a few things (Kayaks, a car, usual man stuff I suppose). I can see containers are pretty reasonable - £2k ought to get a half decent one. But how do I get it from an industrial estate somewhere, to where I want it to live?
Anyone done this? What kind of cost am I looking at?

Thanks. thumbup

Most haulage companies may offer this service; they pick up and move containers all the time. No ideas on cost, but won’t be prohibitive I reckon.

Ask haulage companies to quote? Flatbed lorry etc.

They’re not fully secure, can be broken into.

How long is a piece of string? Most deliveries will be on a per mile basis using a wagon equipped with a HIAB, some vendors will do it themselves or know a suitable haulier, some will expect you to DIY.

You will need to check access of where you will want it placing, if delivered on a flatbed with hi-ab make sure it can get close enough

Storage containers can be absolute buggers for condensation. Dehumidifiers etc can help but you’ll need to plan on having a mains supply to the container. Something to consider anyway.

Another option is that rubberised paint you can spray the insides with - that’s what’s on my container back home and it’s as dry as a bone.

£3 a mile if it is easy access and simple unloading

Many thanks for answering the question.

Thanks for the thoughts about condensation - hadn't thought of that.

Get a refrigerated box; the insulation pretty much eliminates condensation.

yep
I had a car (SL55) in an old refrigerated container for a few years and it was completely dry inside
