Hi guys,
Bought a 2010 Cooper S recently (knowing it was categorised as a Cat C in August 2017), but I cannot find out why it was 'categorised'. CarVertical check states 'nature of the damage unknown'.
I'm trying to find out the reason for the Cat C as can't find any repaired damage, the only thing are marks (dirt) inside the bi-xenon headlights, so possible flood damage???
My insurance broker say they cannot help (thought they'd have access to the insurance database).
The car has gone through a couple of owners prior to my buying it, so no route that way.
Any ideas?

There is no way to find out, maybe ask a local body shop to have a quick look to spot previous repairs

You could try Vcheck to see if they have any further information or even photos. It will cost you around £10.

Thanks Guys - Mr Pointy good call! - Vcheck much more comprehensive than CarVertical and contained full details of the accident damage including photos. Was a front end bump with minor body and mechanical (rad).
Appreciate your help!

Interesting, given how expensive CV is.
