Is there any way to track down a vehicle?
Discussion
Two vehicles my dad used to own are showing up as on the road on the DVLA website (Taxed and MOT'd.)
They aren't enthusiast vehicles but carry sentimental value to me and I would purchase them back in a heartbeat.
Is there any way to trace down the owner(s) of said vehicles other than posting on forums?
Cheers in advance (although I suspect the answer is no...)

No. By all means post on forums / pages in the hope that owner(s) sees / replies or someone who knows the owner(s) is willing to ask them, but otherwise you have no valid right to request the information / location / details of the current owner(s) from the DVLA.They aren't enthusiast vehicles but carry sentimental value to me and I would purchase them back in a heartbeat.

See this recent thread on a similar subject - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
And, like the thread above, no doubt a few posters will be along soon to suggest trying to fraudulently bend the V888 rules, etc, which is one of the reasons why the rules were tightened up under GDPR.

Type the registration (in a number of formates, spaces etc) into Google/Facebook/Twitter/Flickr etc...
You'd be surprised how many websites or services use text recognition and this can be picked up in photos.
I have multiple photos of my cars, taken at shows and posted by people who I've never met, posted on facebook, that I would never normally find.
If you dont know the current reg, then a car vertical check against the VIN will give you the history of regstration number changes.

Yeah I found my old Corrado VR6 this way and also managed to track down one of my dads old cars. Good luck. You'd be surprised how many websites or services use text recognition and this can be picked up in photos.

Thanks for this. Helped me find my old Impreza Turbo. Sadly it was in a post on scoobynet where someone took the engine from my old Impreza to install in a Mini leaving just the Impreza shell. Sacrilege! My Impreza looked in good condition too before it was butchered. You'd be surprised how many websites or services use text recognition and this can be picked up in photos.
