Windscreen replacement. Should I accept scratches?
Discussion
I'm trying to get a new screen fitted via insurance. A National company is doing it. ( Or not doing it)
I've had 4 appointments now and each time the screens are turning up with damage on them which I won't accept.
Now waiting for number 5 this weekend.
Am I expecting too much to have a perfect screen?

Expecting it to be undamaged is reasonable.
Expecting it to be OEM will come down to the wording of your insurance policy.
This. Expecting it to be OEM will come down to the wording of your insurance policy.
Although, proposing insurers need to do more to make this salient point clear and easy to interpret and comprehend before policy inception. Pointing to a 'click here' to acknowledge you've read 64 pages of jargon is not quite what helps consumers make an informed decision.

I guess I'll just have to wait then.
Not bothered about OEM just want it without damage.
They must be able to get a good one eventually
Ask them to bring two. If they're both scratched go back to your insurer and tell them they've appointed numpties. Not bothered about OEM just want it without damage.
They must be able to get a good one eventually

I will be taking it up with my insurance if they fail to deliver this time.

Well.
Dispite being assured by the fitter when he called me that he had a good screen.
When he arrived at mine it had a foot long scratch across the middle
I have now escalated the problem with one of their mangers and they are going to source a screen direct and try again next weekend.
They have proved to be totally useless through the week, with booking the fitting and they have now mixed up my work and home address, and I've been unable to make any contact with their complaints Dept.
God only knows how they stay in business!

Just to conclude this thread.
Finally got a undamaged screen yesterday.
The "National" company have been totally useless throughout, never returned three promised phone calls and even made appointments without consulting me.
Let's hope I don't need another any time soon.
You are not their customer; the insco is. Finally got a undamaged screen yesterday.
