Just a bit of fun
Which two cars from the same manufacturer released roughly (within a year or two) same time. They can be as practical or not but have to fulfil daily life requirements.

I have a toddler and enjoy camping, mtb ect so mine would be
A Subaru Legacy s402 wagon.

Subaru impreza sti r205

Estate for practicality and a hot hatch for everything else.

Toyota Hilux

Supra GR

Or, if being realistic in the affordability stakes,

535D X drive Touring

1 series Diesel for local stuff.

What I have....

A 2004 Toyota Celica
A 2004 Toyota MR2

Don't have kids, generally only me in the car. Daily commute (when I do it and don't work from home) is 15 miles on B roads/country lanes. Sometimes visit family 125 miles away (mostly dual carriageway/motorway). Occasionally take one dog, so he can go in the back of the Celica with the seats down.

If we want to take all of the dogs out, we can use one of OH's cars (he has a Mazda 5 and Suzuki Grand Vitara).

Lotus Emira V6 - Weekend and nice weather fun.
Lotus Eletre R - Family bus and commute car.

Would just as easily work with some kind of 911 and Taycan.

Already have a 108 Top, marvellous little car for local journeys. The 508 SW is one of the smartest looking estate cars, would be an excellent family car.

Don't like German offerings nor SUVs, would choose Volvo but seeing as they ditched 5-pots and then ditched estates altogether.

My two are about a year apart so seem to fit the bill. The daily is a 330i so still quick enough for a bit of fun when I get a chance.

Interesting question and I surprised myself with the answer as I'm not a huge Mercedes fan, but a seven seat 300bhp SUV and a v8 sports car would be a nice pair.

GLB35

AMG GTR Pro

I don't really like the look of the Cayenne but one of those and a Spyder RS would probably be a close second.

What has happened at Lotus recently!? They are producing some beauties at the moment! I had to look up the Eletre but it’s great.

I like those choices. However, I’m feeling a bit poorer than that at the moment as my kids try to bleed me dry, so my realistic version of this is:

7-seat E55:

CLK63:

If I’m to dream unrealistically for a moment, I’ll take an LM002 and a Countach Anniversary please! smile

We have a BMW M2 and a G21 330e.

Works brilliant.

Daily stuff use the 330e. Quiet, comfortable and effortless driving. Get 99.9mpg or ~3.5 m/kWh so pennies on fuel/electric.

M2 is for fun and is just a riot to drive. Loud, oversteer and ridiculously quick while being just the right size.

Both can take bikes, people, wheelchairs, prams, firewood and shopping. Covers 99.999% of use cases.
