The official cars of government leaders of car manufacturing countries.

1. France - Citroen DS
2. Italy - Maserati Quattroporte
3. Germany - Mercedes S Class
4. Japan - Toyota Century
5. China - Hongqi (Chinese manufactured car)
6. United States - Cadillac
7. Russia - Aurus (Russian manufactured car).

You may have noticed a theme developing. So, you might expect that the newly purchased official car for the Prime Minister of the UK would be something actually manufactured in the UK as it always has been (Jaguars replacing Rover P5s in about 1980) Well, no, it it is an Audi A8.

Jaguar doesn’t make the XJ anymore so it was bound to happen. Although I think the iPace would have been better.

I'm surprised it wasn't a Eurocopter EC135.

You'd at least expect a FFRR, I think it's rather a shame they go for some generic dull eurobox.

Less chance of the damn thing breaking down than a RR. Good on him though I would have gone for a Purosangue.

Can't get them insured in London.

Probably doesn't want it to break down.

Jlr made their own issues here. Both with them not being reliable and not producing a top draw saloon or estate car. I don't blame rishi here.

So neither the PM nor his car are british then. Probably be moving to his beloved US after the next general election. Absolute shambles

Should really be a Brompton because no one else is allowed to be driving around London these days.

As British as the last 3 - what a silly statement to make.

And the car.... does it really matter?
Given the XJ is no longer made, and JLR have not yet designed a bulletproof/attack resistant new RR, what other 'British' car would you have him drive?

What a non-issue.

Arriving in a glossy black, VIP spec Foxhound or Jackal would surely have been an excellent icebreaker at diplomatic functions... plus they're British made, and I suspect more resilient to bangs and bullets than a VW in body armour.

Has Southampton formed an independent republic without anyone noticing? Or is it because he's, y'know, brown?

Over the last 100 years the only PM born outside of England or Scotland was BoJo.

The Royal Family’s security team seem to think Range Rovers are secure enough...?

And of course it matters, our government is meant to represent and promote our country, in every respect and at every opportunity.

The Prime Minister doesn't have to be British. But I assume you're just being ignorant here, as I'm pretty sure this one is.

Shouldn’t the PM be driven around in something that should be considered the best of British?

Im certainly no admirer of the current PM but the official prime ministerial car should be something above an Uber X.

Bentley Flying Spur for the win. Looks epic, has serious presence and knocks spots off a Cadillac or a Toyota. Yes, I know it’s not technically British but it is fundamentally associated with being British.

I suppose during this cost of living crisis they have to seen to be not too opulent but now would be a great time to introduce it as Rishi simply has no concept of frugality or living in the real world where he’d happily use a helicopter to visit the local shop and will be gone in a year or two anyway and the Bentley would be there for future PMs and they can then use the excuse of it’s already there and would cost too much to replace.

Would look superb outside of No10.

I'm more concerned about the country than what fking car he is driving around in.
