Starting a new thread.

What’s far away registered cars have you seen in the UK?

I will start, spotted a New South Wales registered Ute on the M56 heading towards Chester around 6 years ago. Pre-covid, lots of Qatar registered cars in Liverpool but nothing now.

/thread surely? Unless someone sees a NZ car floating about.

I've seen a few Ukraine cars lately. I go to a fruit packing place for work sometimes and there are often a lot of cars from all over , Bulgaria, Hungary, Ukraine, etc. Seen a Turkish lorry on the motorway before.

See the odd American car as the US service people sometimes bring their car over with them on deployment.

I saw a Singapore registered car in London once. That must have been quite a road-trip!

Had to do a bit of a double-take as the numberplate format is very similar to our pre-1981 plates but with an extra number.

Rarely see UK registered trucks these days on the M20 going to/from Channel Tunnel/Dover these days. Mostly Eastern Ruropean.

I knew (of) a South African man who came to England for a year or so and decided to have his car sent here too, by sea. Saw the car a few times in the works car park; it was a tatty, late eighties or early nineties brick-shaped Mercedes with beautifully decorated South African number plates. God alone knows why the man went to all that trouble, this happened twenty years ago when every back-street dealer in the country had at least three tatty eighties Mercs on the forecourt for £500 apiece. I only spoke to him once or twice and he wasn't the sort to question the judgement of!

I remember how surprised I was to see an Azerbaijan-registered 7-Series in South Kensington a few years ago.

I then saw a Japanese-registered Suzuki Jimny in Stockbridge, Hampshire.

Most recently I've seen a Ghanian-registered Ford F150 in Peckham.

Spotted about 3 or 4 US registered cars on the way to Snetterton last year. Guessing all to do with nearby Lakenheath.

I thought all trade with the EU became completely impossible on the day we left the EU. Cannot understand how there could have been any foreign lorries when the channel tunnel was supposed to have been bricked up.

In the opposite direction, I once saw a UK number plate in Cape Town (on a Land Rover), and plenty on Antigua (but I’d guess they were owned by returnees from the UK and simply waiting to be put on local tags).

There's a Singaporean guy currently around the Artic Circle, in his Land Cruiser having travelled from Singapore. Not sure if it's documented on YouTube or Insta.

Well there are still no checks on incoming trucks to the UK, although UK vehicles get checked at every entry point to the UK. I guess the Channel Tunnel has just been made one way, rather than being bricked up....

Whilst not far away in a distance sense. Anything registered in Hull, seen beyond Bridlington, is culturally the same as the ute with the NSW reg.

There was a NSW registered Toyota Land Cruiser (I think) knocking around near me in York for a bit. Sure its the same car I see now but on UK plates so maybe brought it over and re-registered it...

I use the M20 every morning so often see an assortment of trucks from various places.

This morning I saw a couple of Ukrainian registered cars and a truck which was from Kazakstan. Which I imagine is a fair old drive!
