Good evening.

I’ve got 2 cars at the moment. I am looking to add my son onto the policy of one when he passes his test.
One expires January on my main car with NCD
The other March which I have paid off anyway.

The march policy is for the car I want to add him on and apply the NCD as the difference is massive.

How would I do this ?

by phoning your insurance company?

Remember NCD is generally a marketing tool rather than a genuine saving

Yeah I have 2 policies as I bought a 2nd car in March.

And yes after running a quote on the main car with 0 NCD I realised that it’s infact the same cost !

Remember you can only apply your NCD on one policy.

Yeah I know so when the Jan policy expires do I just renew and say 0 NCD and then when the March policy expires I say I have 25 years NCD ?

Ideally you should be setting up his own policy so that he can start earning his own no claims.

Do you really have 25 years NCD? Is that what your last renewal said?
