Surprise surprise the ban of ICE vehicles has been pushed back a further five years by the government. Excellent news. Hopefully they will just scrap the ban altogether in a few years. Anyone else as happy as I am that we get to enjoy new motors for at least a further five years?

Although the manufacturers are forced to sell EV's in increasing numbers over the coming years or face crazy fines per car sold.

They haven't changed the introduction date for this, despite changing the date for the ban, so manufacturers will be left with increasing numbers of EVs that people don't want because the public charging won't be being introduced as quickly as it should have been under the original ban date.

Seems a mess.

Cities I visit have hardly any chargers, one was making a big fuss about how they now had one (1!) fast charger that they expected all taxis to be able to use.

It’s excellent news if you read the headlines then stop thinking any further.

Quite. The manufacturers don't seem particularly happy about it either as it's screwed their long term planning.

Still, Sunak got his Daily Mail headline, so I'm sure that lots of people will be very happy for a day or two.
