Garage damaged my car. What next?
Discussion
Hi all,
I gave my car in for an MOT 2 weeks ago. As the car was being removed from the ramp, my front splitter got caught (and completely destroyed) on the jack which is fixed to the inspection ramp as the tester forgot to move it out of the way before removing my car off the ramp. - I was there witnessing this all.
The owner wasn't present but I've got the workers who were there to write me a note on letter headed paper confirming they'd caused the damage.
I spoke to the owner the following morning and he assured me he'd order me the replacement part, but it's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for it to be processed.
How long do I wait until I escalate things & what is the escalation method?
Thanks

I suppose you could see if the part is available for immediate dispatch on a random supplier website or if you have to "order" it. That would give you some idea if there's a hold up especially if the part is made in Ukraine, for instance!
Then call the garage to see if they can book you in. They may say they're awaiting the delivery. OTOH it's possible they've forgotten to order it (or hope you'll go away but you won't really know that!) - you know how busy people are these days.
Give them a month to sort it out but do some chasing. I wouldn't think of escalating just yet.
