Wrong name on V5C
Discussion
Bought used car for son and dealer has registered it to me rather than my son. The warranty and purchase info is in my name but I wanted the car registered to my son.
I've read various old discussions on this but how do I go about getting it put into my son's name without adding another former keeper? Apparently I can write to DVLA?

I bought a car which was registered new with the wrong make and colour on the V5C. I wrote to the DVLA and they issued a new one with the correct make, but wrong colour. I then phoned and they issued a 3rd and finally correct document.I've read various old discussions on this but how do I go about getting it put into my son's name without adding another former keeper? So they are willing to accept they have made a mistake.
I don't know if a change of name would be more difficult. I would start with a phone call and ask what documentation they require in order to correct the document, without suggesting they made a mistake.

My niece had a similar problem with her V5c after buying a used car.
Wrote to DVLA and it was sorted without any fuss (just took quite a while!)
Cheers (your situation is closer to mine than SpudLink's as DVLA haven't done anything wrong). I think I'll send it off - don't think I'll be needing the V5C for a while so no real hurry.Wrote to DVLA and it was sorted without any fuss (just took quite a while!)
