Just read that JLR have posted a 42% YoY sales increase & fat order book. Good news after some tough years:

Booming sales of RR and LR Defender just as they become uninsurable

Might not end well

Living in Warwickshire they are absolutely everywhere, looking out my window I can see 4 JLR vehicles.
I'm assuming most are 'management' cars which get lightly used then sold as approved used helping to move large quantities into the market.

I saw this thread on Twitter earlier about the number of RR and RRS on Autotrader, with comments on the insurance costs being a big issue now. Some big insurance costs being talked about (if true)

42% between April and September compared to last year. According to SMMT they are up just under 17% for the year compared to last year, still pretty good, but their market share has actually dropped slightly.

... And Months later into your dream purchase 'JLR CEO apologises for parts delays as 5000 cars await repair' and 'Autocar then revealed that dealers had been advised to use second-hand parts in a bid to clear the backlog'

“Management” cars help sales because they are counted as a registration.

Need to boost sales? Simply give employees access to more (i.e. 3 instead of 2) or cheaper company / lease cars, or lower the changeover time / miles.

FWIR, the new electric XJ was at the test-driving stage when the new boss canned it & ordered a new direction entirely. Hopefully not just badge engineering or 2 ton SUV's forever.

Fat order book indeed…. They can’t deliver anything… two people I know nearly at 2 years for latest RR. It’s even changed model year and spec during their wait. Volume maybe but crap production seems equally to blame.

They export the vast majority of what they build so insurance issues in the UK don’t matter too much.

What a load of tosh.

I bet you're a true believer in germun engineering as well aren't you?

They may not be owned by the English anymore, haven't been for a long time but they still employ an awful lot of British people both directly and indirectly. The money they pay in wages is extremely good. All of that gets filtered back to the UK through taxation and the excess local spending the employees can afford to do.

Much better than the pittance Amazon and the like pay their British workers who then have to stil rely on government hand outs to get by. Despite generating profits jlr could only dream of.

The range rover is still the benchmark vehicle for cars of its type.
