Calls from people offering to sell my car
Discussion
This is the same scam from the pre-internet days of Autotrader magazine.
You advertise on Autotrader, scammer buys a copy, calls people up saying "We have 23 people on our database looking to buy a Ford Focus Extra Bonus Popular Plus just like yours. For a fee of £49.99 we can get them to get in touch with you."
You pay them the £49.99 and no-one calls. So you call up asking for a refund and their spiel is that they will keep your details "live" on their imaginary database for FREE until it is sold.

I hate the way our once noble language is getting 'Amercanised'. What is 'get-go'. I believe it means 'beginning'?
I've got news for you, language changes, it has been changing all your life and will continue to long after you're dead. It's not something to get worked up about. Chill.Maccaloon said:
I also had a call from a classic car dealer with a website I have checked offering to sell the car (obvs commission) for me.
What’s the story with that? Making a few quid selling my car or something more sinister?
Thanks all
It can be all above board but there are countless stories on PH and google of it being a nightmare. Worst case scenario is the dealer sells your car with your permission and then doesn’t pay you. Company then goes into liquidation and you end up as an unsecured creditor with little or no hope of being paid anything and with no claim to the car which was sold with your permission. What’s the story with that? Ask the dealer how you are protected in this scenario.

Thanks. Will do. Ask the dealer how you are protected in this scenario.
