I've driven a fair few brand new cars recently, mainly rentals and courtesy cars so nothing fancy, but it got me thinking that they all have a load of stuff on them that I probably wouldn't use, like adaptive cruise or lane assist etc. on my own car the CD changer isn't ever used. This got me wondering what features are under appreciated?

Voice control. At least three cars equipped with it, never used it, waste of rations.

I never use my lane keep assist, it's always off. It's a pain on country roads, it doesn't assist, just makes you look like a drink driver. I was once on a NSL road and saw an ambulance coming up behind, I pulled into the side, but as I didn't indicate the car pulled me back out again, it's been switched off since.

My voice control works great with Android auto, or apple carplay when I had an iPhone, but is pretty crap on the standard infotainment.

Ditto. Tried it when I got the car, tried it again about 6 months later while bored in a traffic jam and never used it since.

Utterly crap and pointless.

Use it a lot in Volvo’s for climate as it’s a footer doing it through the touch screen

The back seats. We haven't carried anyone in any of our cars for around four or five years.

Our best friend, the good old stop/start. In really I use it all the time because start the car, then disable the stop/start button.

Auto wipers: Useless. Either going flat out at the merest hint of drizzle or barely reacting to heavy rain or spray.

The boot. Never do a big shop, always delivered. Everything else goes on the passenger seat.

Any button on the steering wheel, can't stand them.

If a car has radar cruise I refuse to use it, nearly had 2 bad accidents in both a VW and Volvo because of it.

In built Sat nav, always use Google maps on phone or whatever they call it when it you cast it from your phone to the car.

Reverse cameras, prefer to use mirrors.

DAB, use to travel all over the country using hire cars every week and don't think I've ever used a car where it didn't constantly cut out, prefer FM.

Lane assist, as explained above.

Stop/start on my wifes RRS. It no longer annoys me after disconnecting the earth from the secondary battery.
Bang and Olufsen stereo in my Aston Vanquish. Who needs that when you have a glorious V12 to listen to.

I specced my X5 new, so don't really have anything I didn't want, so no comfort access, no sunroof, no 'driver assist rubbish' etc. I did spec the electric towbar, as had motorcycle trailer, but six months after taking delivery of the car, I was forced to give up riding bikes, so have never used the towbar banghead
Only things I've never used that came as standard, is the radio and CD player laugh

My car came with a sunroof. I opened it once to make sure it worked but not used since.

This one's funny because I've gone from all-out hate to appreciating they exist - I prefer manual control. Still, at least with the automatic option, it reduces the number of idiots who drive at dusk without remembering to turn their lights on.
