What Car?

Spotted this a while ago but I've just got around to posting. It's a strange looking thing but does anyone have any idea what car it is? No prizes (except for maybe a virtual ) because I spoke to the owner so I know already

Looks to me to be based on an early BMW 3 series (sorry, I don’t know the e-number!).

Back end has deffo got BMW lights from the late 70s early 80s .

I like the front with a bit of Ferrari sharknose to go with BMW sharknose .

I agree, chopped roof among the major modifications to make it a coupe. E32 if I was a betting man (I'm not).

I can see BMW and also a bit of Alfa at the front.

I had an inkling ,so I looked at some Google images of....Maserati Biturbo , the glasshouse area ,if that is what it's called looks the same .

The owner told me it was professionally done years ago and was based on a 635i. As I recall, he said it was a body kit. Close up, it looked like the work was done to a high standard. The interior was something else. It was a complete reworking of the standard BMW interior and whilst the colour (orange) might not be to everyone's taste, it was a quality job.

Interestingly, he filled the fuel tanks by opening by boot. That's where the filler cap was. Those of you with more knowledge about BMW's will tell me that's not the original location.

The side of that is quite different from a 6 series ,door and rear side window are different .

For me, the most pertinent question here is; how come you seem to be on the roof of a petrol station shop?

It just looks like a BMW with a body kit on to me.

It had been extensively modified.

Good question. I wasn't on a roof. I was in a car park which is on higher ground than the petrol station.

Yes, looks more lik a e21 3-series. But there are difference to that too so it could be custom fabricated to make it look like one for some reason.

The owner told me it was a custom fabrication but that a body kit was part of the build. He said he'd owned the car for years.
