European Holiday booked - non fault car accident help
Discussion
HI wise ones - I am driving to France on Friday. My 50th, been booked for ages. Sunday someone drove into the back of my car. I was turning right off a main road and they were turning right onto my road and misjudged this and smashed into me. Insurer sure it will be straight forward no fault claim. Trouble I am having is they offered me instantly an Enterpirse hire car and when I spoke to them they said I couldn't drive it abroad. I have spent hours on the phone now to Aviva getting promised things and passed around. Any advice? Ideally, I will get a hire car I can take on my holidays. My car door is majorly smashed, so I think my car is driveable but how do I know? I can't believe this can't be a thing, surely it isn't unique to my situation. any advice on how to handle this (quickly) with them as it is Friday I am off !!!
The solution I was offered was one hire car to the point of departure, and then pick up another one on the other side to continue the journey. Although in my case it was only one way as I had access to another car at my destination.
Seems that Enterprise offers a UK/EU hire, so don't know why your insurer can't offer it to you (although they do require at least 72 hours notice).

Maybe suggest that you hire it yourself and pass on the cost if possible.

If your insurer can't offer you a satisfactory replacement to serve the same purpose (the French holiday), then I'd be inclined to hire a car yourself instead for the duration of the holiday, and add that as a cost incurred to the claim....

A 'claims management' company would be another route you could take, I probably wouldn't but you could threaten to do so and see if it gets some more effort out of your insurance company

thanks so much - after two pretty much whole days on the phone - unbelieveable bad service from my insurer we are just going to take the smashed door car. It is too much pain to spend another moment on the phone - utter bad service and brain dead or just don't care attitude I give up!!!

If it's just cosmetic damage and the car can still be secured, that would seem a smart move. Just get them to provide a hire car when yours is actually booked in for repair - particularly if there's any problem getting the parts ordered.Forums | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
