For the last few years I've started threads like this (apology if one exists) hoping to be able to get better, but seems I'm going backwards.

Currently have an Audi A3 bought for £450 a few months ago. It sits at 175k miles but still does alright. Mostly broken so I'll see how long I can keep it on the road before upgrading.

What would I like? I've got a bad auto E91 itch that needs scratching but decent ones are fetching strong money still. Few and far between now being older cars.

So PH, what's your plans for the next year?

I think I said it on last years similar thread that I was going to sell the motorcycle. I still haven’t got round to it.

Ordinarily, I would be replacing the wife’s Mini Cooper Clubman this year as we’ve had it for 3 and a half years. However, it’s thrown up some big bills this year, so we’ll be sticking with it at least through 2024.

My M440d was always a long termer so will be staying.

The Alfa Mito runaround that we’ve had for 9 years and is approaching 12 years old, even though it’s running fantastically, I think it will be retiring it this year. I already have its replacement in mind.

Happy motoring to all in 2024.

Depending on how the used market pans out I am thinking of trading the M4 in towards the end of the year for something with 4 doors with similar performance but more practicality. Currently on the list: G80 M3, Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio, C63 or maybe a performance SUV (cough, splutter) X3M of F-pace SVR. If M4 used values continue to plummet I'll wait till 2025.

Unless the Skoda finally falls apart, I plan to stick with what I've got, like the last ten+ years. smile

No plans on changing my 2018 MX-5ND2 2 litre in 2024! Happily owned so far for 3 and a half years!
But with so much time spent on P/H, something might catch my eye smile

There will be a new addition to the fleet in the form of a VW Up or a Peugeot 107 as a learner / 1st car for our son who turns 17. Another car in the household for me to service and maintain.

As I wfh I don't currently have a car. The Mrs is wanting to swap her Mini One for a newer one. I'm contributing some cash so she can get a Cooper S instead.
I'm quite looking forward to it! driving

Having one car is really boring…

I have brought something else after 8 years, gone from a Panda to a Clio gt line, I know the Panda is a basic car but my the Clio is like the space shuttle in comparison . Pick up early Jan.

My Mum is thinking of getting rid of her 2006 NC Mazda MX-5 1.8. It only has 40,000 miles on it and is never used in winter. Seriously considering buying it off her at whatever price WBAC will offer her and starting a track toy project. What do we reckon?

I’ll be keeping the Audi A3 etron as my daily as it still has a year left on the battery warranty.

The Mrs might finally learn to drive, so maybe a cheap runabout like an Aygo for her. Though I think she might take more than a year to pass!

Keeping the MX5 ND - it's not going anywhere. Considering adding a second car, something more practical quite fancy a Skoda Yeti smile

Sticking with my 15 year old mk5 gti. Might treat it to a suspension refresh if funds allow.

Suspect that this year will revolve around cheap, disposable 1st car for eldest Claphamette.

Am thinking VW Up!/Seat Mii/Skoda Citigo but may go lower than a snake's tummy and look at Peueot 107/Citroen C1/Toyota Aygos.

Aim is to get her through her test and, if she takes to driving and does a reasonable amount, get her something vaguely respectable for her 18th. Slight problem is she has her heart set on an original 90" Defender County, which isn't happening on so many levels.

Quite!

Apparently, what *all* the cool girls in 6th form are driving at the moment.

Reason #429 to get her back to a London day school for 6th form.....

Bought two cars this year, so not planning any purchases in 2024, but need to sell the C55 as three cars is too many to shunt around on the drive.

Want to take the 570GT on track (very carefully!!) and also hope to make another road trip, ideally in Scandinavia.
