Selling a private plate to be put onto Retention - how?

I have someone who wants to buy my number plate but doesn't have the car to put it on yet. He wants instead to put the plate on Retention.

The DVLA have processes to transfer the plate from car to car and change the owner
The DVLA have processes to transfer the plate from car to retention and keep the owner

I can see how to transfer the plate from car to retention and change owner.

Anyone know the forms / hoops I have to jump through to do this?

Once you have the retention doc in your hand, assign the nominee/grantee(can't remember which, as the person who wants to buy it).
