Lamborghini shifts 10,000 cars for first time ever

2023 was a banner year for Lamborghini in more ways than one...

Had Lamborghini only sold a mediocre number of cars in 2023, the year would still have enjoyed a prominent place in the history books thanks to its distance from 1963, the year of its founding. But as it turns out, the last 12 months were not mediocre - in fact, Lamborghini enjoyed what would elsewhere be called ‘a total banger’. For the first time ever, Sant’Agata Bolognese delivered more than 10,000 cars globally in a year. 10,112 to be exact.

That’s 10 per cent more than it did in 2022, which was itself a record-breaker. And while that reflects a growth trend that several other high-end carmakers have enjoyed (what cost of living crisis etc), it is fair to say that Lamborghini’s end-of-year results have not always been so glossy. Accordingly, the firm is justly proud of knocking the ball from its birthday party.

“It’s a true source of pride for the whole company to have surpassed the 10,000-car delivery mark,” noted Stephan Winkelmann, Lambo’s CEO. “Playing a role in achieving this milestone for Lamborghini is an honor for me and for all the people who work tirelessly to achieve this goal. This is a success made possible by the commitment of everyone, a major accomplishment based on true teamwork.”

Based on true teamwork and, somewhat predictably, the ‘continuing success’ of the Urus, which continues to sell like hotcakes in a cold snap. Lamborghini shifted 6,087 examples of its SUV last year, thoroughly dwarfing the 3,962 versions of the Huracan that left the factory. Just 63 iterations of Aventador trickled out, as the company wound up production of its V12-powered supercar ahead of the Revuelto’s introduction - which already had sufficient orders to see Lamborghini through to late 2026.

For fans of specific market data (who isn’t?), the US remains the big fish - it alone accounted for 3,000 cars. The runners up were Germany (961), China (845), the United Kingdom (801), Japan (660), the Middle East (496), South Korea (434), Italy (409), Canada (357), Australia (263), France & Monaco (255), Switzerland (211), Taiwan (131) and India (103). Well done us, eh?

“This outstanding achievement is a clear sign of the growing perception of our brand worldwide and confirms that the strategy we’ve adopted is succeeding,” reckoned Federico Foschini, Lamborghini’s marketing boss. Beyond the Revuelto, that strategy will imminently include a plug-in version of the Urus, followed by a hybridised, V8-powered replacement for the Huracan. Only time will tell if buyers greet an electrified Lamborghini lineup with no less glee - although honestly who would bet against it now?

They make some amazing cars an perhaps the only attainable super car with prices of the gallardo being within the reach of mere mortals.

But Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini and I suspect others have had an amazing 2023 which tells me the rich got alot richer somehow during covid and High inflation and everyone else got poorer.

Still great cars mind you and the 2st poster has had 4 so good on them I hope they enjoy each moment of it.

They start at about 60 grand with presumably quite hefty running costs, so still well out of the vast majority of people's reach! I appreciate that it's not exactly Elon Musk money, mind.

As for the only attainable supercar, I guess that depends how you define "supercar". Some Ferraris are definitely cheaper - 360 and California for example - and you can get into an Aston DB9 for well less than 30k. Heck if, we really want to stretch the definition, Maserati 4200s start at less than 10k...

The top 10% of tax payers pay 60% of all tax - so you're wrong. The "rich" get fked by tax which largely gets given away and from which they get little to no direct benefit from relative to its cost to them.

You're just upset that other people can afford nice stuff, which is called jealousy.

If you only have cash - rather than assets - then the government is burning the value of your money at the voters request. Every time the govt gives away freebies, it does this by printing money. Printing money, means the value of your money is less. If you get paid in money, and own nothing that isn't money, then you get poorer relatively.

If you own assets the government cannot print to fund its huge spending habit, you get relatively richer. The more government spends, the greater than value of everything they can't copy and paste goes up.

Government spending makes people poorer when currency no longer has a fixed value. Cash, is literally, being burnt by government. It's a fact that's been proven, and is demonstrable in the data - https://wtfhappenedin1971.com/

UK has the same graphs from 1931 when the UK disconnected UK£ from the Gold Standard (meaning they could print money willy nilly too)

uhm how much of all wealth do those same 10% possess?
I will bet the answer is ~60% or more, and they do not get fked at all.

if by "given away" you mean social expenditure (and policing) the rich benefit from it more than anybody. It keeps them from being torn apart by bums.

Exactly. Anyone can afford a Lambo if theu make the right life choices. No point in being upset you can't afford one because you didn't.

Likewise, it's no point in the Lambo guys getting upset they can't afford a DLS. And the DLS guys getting upset they can't buy an F1.

Life's unfair - be grateful for what you have and enjoy it.
