Hi all,

I'm returning a lease car in the next few weeks, and it's carrying a dent on the boot (some tw@t reversed into it and didn't bother leaving details). It's smart repairable - I have a quote from Chipsaway of around £450. However it is bigger than any of the published costs by VWFS on minor nerfs.

Question is - is there a reasonably reliable way of establishing what the cost might be to send the car back with this damage? Obviously if it's less than the Chipsaway cost then it makes more sense to send it back and swallow it that way. Given that BCA rarely fix small damage but just assume a slightly lower auction price as a buyer will factor in repair costs for what they'll bid, I'm trying to get a sense of how they assess the cost of this stuff. Up to the limit of BVRLA guidance it's usually cheaper to send it back and pay than go to retail smart repair.

Anyone got any thoughts? I phoned VWFS who gave me BCA's number, but they just transferred me back to VWFS.

Cheers
