For real augmented reality rather than virtual reality, it has to be projected onto a clear screen/glasses like the normal heads up display in many cars.
With those, if they fail you are left looking through clear glass so not an issue... not like with VR when everything suddenly goes dark and you are effectively blindfolded at whatever speed you were doing!

There is a risk people aren't differentiating between Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR).
The Vision Pro is AR, so the wearer can always see what's in front of them....however it's not a clear bit of glass with a HUD like solution. It's entirely a screen and the pass-through is done via cameras. Apparently 12ms is all the delay there is however, yeah....

AR in VR headset terms is very much the same thing. Its a VR headset, no amount of marketing from Apple will dissuade me (and many others) from thinking otherwise. The Vision Pro is AR, so the wearer can always see what's in front of them....however it's not a clear bit of glass with a HUD like solution.
