Car stolen what next?

My fiesta st was stolen early hours of Tuesday morning I missed it by about 10 minutes. There's been no trace of it so far. Insurance are saying I have to wait 2 weeks to allow for potential recovery before getting any kind of pay out.
Im a bit lost though what should my next steps be? Insurance haven't been back in touch neither have the police.

Phone the Police and Insurance and ask for an update.

Start looking at similar age, spec and mileage cars on Autotrader and elsewhere ie dealer stock to get a good idea of what yours was worth.

Then you'll have a better idea for what to fight for when the insurance company tries to lowball you.

definitely this. Take screen shots/links especially of the closest match so you can go armed with true 'market value' evidence if (and they probably will) lowball the value

Thanks it was even more of a pain in that I had filled the tank and just fitted two new tyres

Got receipts? All part of the evidence, although a full tank may not count, the correct maintenance will affect value

I was only thinking yesterday if I still needed to bother with the disklok for mine as surely the scumbags have moved on from them by now. Seems I was wrong sadly.

In terms of a replacement I've always thought if my ST were stolen I'd try a 208 by PS as they are a bit more under the radar.

It was and it was one of 3 that I know of stolen that night. Still no sign of it although one of the other ones was recovered with names written on various parts.

Luckily I'm anal about keeping receipts so I have everything from the past 3 years thanks to the information here I think I'm pretty well prepared for the call to insurance when it's due

As a finale to this my insurer settled without any arguments at higher than market value. Now on the hunt for a 335d

if its anything like my 435d - its a bit of a 'sleeper'. I've been out on several runs with mine against M cars and they have been 'surprised'.

Ageas they were actually pretty good I don't think I spent more than an hour on the phone throughout the entire process.

I did worry about this before deciding on a 35d but its actually cheaper to insure than my fiesta was even with the claim although its still £250 a year more now

Then sadly your no claims gets affected upon renewal (if you had any)

See if you can find one which has been mapped. I heard they were pretty quick.

They already are, there really is no need. If I can keep up with 'M's in a lardy 435d convertible slush box the 335 will be even better. Real world usable is absolutely fine.
