Alloy Wheel Insurance - for older car
Discussion
Hi all, I drive a Jaguar XF Sportbrake which has factory JLR 20" 'Hydra' wheels which I'm learning are very expensive. I'm running Goodyear Eagle F1s which are similarly expensive.
I've had the car since November 23 and over this winter due to Cotswold roads I've managed to pick up three dents, and blown a tyre. I had all three wheels repaired and new tyres on the axle only to yesterday hit another pothole and pickup a small dent on the wheel along with a burst tyre in the sidewall.
I took the wheel to the alloy repairer which repaired and refurbed them last time and they say the wheel cannot be repaired due to the dent being above a spoke. They say the repair will not last, and could be dangerous.
I've already invested quite a lot into this car for other maintenance and don't want to sell it. I am considering smaller alloys but also wondering about alloy insurance. A few sites I've checked seem to insist on the car being bought from a dealer in the last 90 days, whereas I'm slightly over that, and the mileage <80k which I'm over.
Is there any insurer with more flexible terms? I'm aware I could claim on my current motor policy but I'm more keen to insure myself for next winter as well.

You're better off putting the money into a 2nd hand set of 4 alloys (that need to be refurbished).
Get them all all sorted and keep them for the summer. Your current crusty set can be kept for winters.
Therein lies the problem, my current set are just refurbed and perfect, except the small dent. Also have almost new tyres. So I want to use them really. I appreciate these would be better for summer use.Get them all all sorted and keep them for the summer. Your current crusty set can be kept for winters.
