Selling wheels 5 or 4+1?

I have two sets of wheels for my Range Rover and am going to sell one set via Fleabay.

They are Turbines for the L405, so they are relatively new and worth something. I cannot decide whether I would be better selling them as a set of four plus one separately, or as a set of five.

I have a hunch that people buying this sort of thing want the cheapest possible option. So I can imagine 4+1 working. A complete set for a change of look, plus one to someone who has damaged one.

Anyone experience of this please?

For me, all 5, both as a buyer and a seller. As a buyer you get a matching spare, as a seller you get shot of all 5 at once to someone who can obviously afford them and won't mess you about.

However if you want maximum money then probably either 4 + 1 or all 5 separately will be better options, depends if you want to deal with multiple buyers.

I think I am put off a bit by the fact that my second set of wheels were brand new RR wheels, set of five, and the seller couldn't get rid of them. I am not sure if that was because they were five. I think it may have been.

I suppose I could list them as five available at a price per unit. Watch me get left with three wheels!

Selling a set of a 4 will be way easier. People just don’t have the mental agility to buy 5 and put one away for when needed. I would list the set of 4 for what you want then offer the option to whomever buys them for a little extra. Then if they don’t have it list it on its own.

I had a similar train of thought with my Defender wheels, but ultimately I think 99% of people who buy new “luxury” 4x4’s don’t really give a monkeys about altering them, and also have the PCP/lease thing issue to deal with. I.e not being allowed to change them/it being dead money if you do. I reckon you may struggle on fleabay but good luck nonetheless, I hope you have more joy than I did! I just kept them in the end and stuck a set of mud tyres on to have as spares!

I think this is the problem that afflicted the chap I bought my second set from. The ones I bought were the smallest diameter / deepest tyre option whatever that was 20-21" maybe?

Anyway, all brand new and I paid him £600 against his asking price of £1200. He just wanted them out of the way. Which is probably how I will be soon!

I think I’d go with 4+1 (and, as said above, make it clear in the advert for the 4 wheels that a 5th is available). Reason being, I’d guess someone after 5 wheels would be more likely to buy 4+1 than someone who is after 4 wheels would be to buy 5…if that makes sense!
