Address on driving license

Hi - I have just bought a flat in Fulham to use regularly but which will not be my permanent residence. Can I change the address on my driving license to the Fulham address as this will help me get a parking permit. Or does my driving license address HAVE to be my main residence? Cheers
Aren't residents permits usually linked to where the vehicle is registered as well?
When I had one a few years back (Glasgow, not London) I had to give the council a copy of the V5 document showing the car was registered at the address.
Then that links to insurance needing to be registered there...you may find it hard to get around the rules.

i dont think the address on your driving licence has to be your 'main' address, just one you have have regular access to.
similarly, the address the car is registered to doesnt have to be where the car is usually kept.
personally, if you wanted to get a parking permit, i would change the address on the V5c to that address.
the only thing i think actually matters where the car is regularly kept is for insurance purposes, as that will affect how likely it is to be stolen.
but if you had a house in the country and a flat in london, id have my drivers licence and insurance address in the country, but the V5c address as the one in london, so you can get a parking permit.

Many thanks for all these replies. I have changed the V5 on the car which I don’t think impacts insurance as the car will mainly be parked at my main address (in the country). I sounds as though I can also change my drivers license address to Fulham as it is an address which DVLA can contact me at. So I think I’m OK?

What happens if the OP needs to claim on their car insurance? I had a car written off last year and they required access to my driving licence details and also my V5 during the process. It maybe fine, I don't know, but trying to explain why your car and licence are registered to an address where the insurance cost would be substantially higher than where you say the car is kept, after ploughing into a bus stop full of children and nuns might be a very awkward and expensive discussion.similarly, the address the car is registered to doesnt have to be where the car is usually kept.

Double check. If it's stolen from the registered address while insured at another I suspect you'll have a fight on your hands.Bill said:

Double check. If it's stolen from the registered address while insured at another I suspect you'll have a fight on your hands.
