weekend car no insurance for 2 weeks- SORN?

hello all,

I cleverly have left getting my car insurance sorted out for my weekend car very last minute. essentially if i insure it from Tuesday the cheapest quote for the year is 2200, but if i start the insurance in 2 weeks time, it comes down to 1600...

I won't be driving the car at all of course whilst it isnt insured as I have my daily driver. The question is, do I have to SORN it for these 2 weeks, or should I leave it? I have my own driveway where it is parked in front of my wife's car and blocked from public view.

To comply with the law, you need to sorn it. Not complying with the law for 2 weeks is unlikely to get flagged, but it might.

If it's on private land, are you sure? I thought road tax is only needed if driven on public roads.

He has road tax. That isn't what he's asking. He's asking if he can have legally have an uninsured car with valid road tax. The answer to that question is NO. If you have a taxed car, you must have insurance on it.

Okay, I guess the question is, unless a police officer runs a check in this 2 week window, will I automatically get a letter/ fine through the post?

Just seems like a lot of faff and work for literally 14 days when the car is going to be parked, on my private land at the end of a private road in a quiet suburb
