Lazy post as I'm struggling to find many more threads than one in the Aston forum.

Imagine a 1 of 10 mini, and yes, there are lots of 1 of 10's, esp mini's. Quite a price premium over a standard one. Mainstream insurers say it's worth the same as a stock one. The price is near double. And gap is basically non existent, esp for a not new car.

Is it a Footman James type thing these days? Anyone else who might give an agreed value?

My insurance accepts a letter from my car builder / garage to set an agreed value (modified TVR Sagaris).

interested tbh. I have a 81 mini which is has all factory panels and paint and engine, also not a bit of rust sitting on 34k miles.( only goes up 200 miles a year )
At the min it is on a normal insurance policy but come june I will be looking a proper agreed value policy.

You join the appropriate car club. They will have an (model specific) officer whose role is to inspect the vehicle and offer a "club valuation". The classic car policy insurers will accept this valuation.

Which specific insurers though?

I can join a group but it will be post purchase, which is too late!

In round terms of it was a standard car it would be half what I'm paying. Which makes me the dumbass I appreciate, but it means mainstream insurers are basically saying in the event of a total loss, we don't care what you paid, market is half that.

Which it isn't, I just need to find someone who will accept (for a premium I'm sure) that market really is a lot higher because 1 of 10.

Many different Insurers should be happy to give you an agreed value policy subject to proof that the value is indeed in the ballpark requested and obviously they will charge a premium based on this.
It might be worth your while calling a Broker who has access to different markets.
Nothing wrong with FJ btw.
I use Nowell & Richards.

Just had my renewal through from Adrian Flux, been with them 10 years with an agreed value on my car and they are no longer offering agreed value.

Shame really as I’ve been very happy with them and their pricing thus far.

Any further thoughts on where to try? I’ve spent a small fortune on the car so don’t want to risk losing all of it if the worst happened!!

I had an agreed value policy with Chris Knott last year. Pretty easy process, email a few images plus a brief overview plus my valuation and they considered it and then agreed. Also had similar with Adrian Flux previously, again no dramas.

I was FJ, absolutely no problem at all with them, but went with Hagerty on renewal because they noticeably cheaper for the same cover.

A modified 2002 Civic Type R.

I will give them a call to ask, a friend of mine had the same issue with his 2010 Focus RS as well.

I think Lancaster and Classicline also do agreed value policies.

Howden (formerly A Plan) arrange specialist policies in their Thatcham office so might be worth a call.

Never used any of them (yet), but I'm working through a list for quotes ahead of renewal on my car with some modifications!

I've had a chat with AF this morning. It seems that the recent changes with the FCA and GAP insurance has got them a bit ruffled so they no longer sell Agreed Value as an 'extra' - to keep on the right side of the FCA I would presume.

After a bit of back and forward, they have been able to offer me a policy with a different insurer that includes Agreed Value rather than having to add it on, apparently this is OK!

Looks like thats the way I will go. TBH I don't think I will drive the car at all this year but I don't like the idea of it being completely uninsured sat in my garage...... either that or I just 'risk it' and cancel the insurance, but thttps://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/post.asp?h=0&f=23&t=2078320&i=0&m=newReply#faceboxMasterhat means I can't just move it if I do want to.. scratchchin

I'd insured my restored XJ12 with Lancaster on an agreed value policy for several years and switched to Hagerty still with an agreed value policy this year in February after the FCA announcement on GAP insurance products. No issues with either really.

I don't think GAP policies sold alongside new car sales can realistically apply to agreed value policies on classic cars where values can go up if the value of the car goes up beyond purchase price following restoration work or due to market demand on certain makes, models and/or variants, or the values crash following financial/market turbulance and interest in the brand/model as an investment vanes.

Amy proper broker will sort you out with what you need.

We're currently with Chubb through a local broker and several of the cars have an agreed value. We had the same when we were with Hiscox.

Other bonuses over going via Confused.com or similar are things like any driver cover for our vehicles and being fully comp on any vehicle we don't own.
