Tax discs

When was the last time you saw one in a car windscreen , a normal run of the mill car ?
I’m only asking as i walked past a Suzuki x90 ,a curio itself these days , so I gave it a second glance and it was wearing a tax disc that ran out some time in 2015 , after I’ve looked it seems that tax discs were abolished sometime in 2014 ?
I’m guessing someone got one of the last paper discs ?

I left the last issued one on my screen. That was a 2015 one.

Seen an old W reg 306 estate with one in the windscreen recently dated some time in 2015. Had to double take as not seen one in so long

Picked up my wife’s aunts old Focus to drag from North Wales to Cheshire to sit as a driveway ornament to look as. If the house is more occupied.

It’s a 2013 model and still has the tax disc holder and disc in.

My BMW still has the tax disc that expired in 2024 in it. Handwritten too.

My RS Megane still has the old tax discs but the holder had fallen off the windscreen whilst it had been stored for 10 years! haha

I’ve never thrown a tax disc away and had a fair few cars and bikes in the last 40 years, so have a fair old stash all in a ziplock bag. No idea why :rolf:

This was the last tax disc for my old BMW E36 2.5 petrol, I kept the lovely case for the cars documents to house my F30 335d documents. The tax discs became redundant in October 2014, I believe.
Note that the annual cost of that disc was £225; my current VED is £210 for the 335d

And I would tend to agree but on the Bay many are claiming Aug 2015 was the last issuing disc.? But surely Sep 2015 must be the last disc.?

There is a BMW Z3 round the corner from me, car is absolutely immaculate, wheels have 0 curbing to them etc, the owner seems to give it a clean every weekend and I would say its been ceramic coated, paintwork is swirl free.

The only thing letting it down is the shrivelled up tax disc holder in the windscreen with a very faded tax disc in it.

If you bought an annual disc in Sept 2014, it would have a date of Aug 2015 on it. However you would not have needed to display it after October 2014
