Insurance comparison sites -all same what's happening

Had a couple of renewals and looking to change car s been on comparison sites a lot and use Moneysupermarket, Go Compare, Compare the market and Confused and they are all coming up with very similar minimum prices, maybe with different providers.
Gut feeling is that with people expecting substantial increase that some sort of tacit collusion between the major players
Couple years ago was nearly always possible to get cheaper quote without a lot of hassle, now getting rarer.
By going away from above managed to save £160 on a £580 premium, Anyone else feel same and with all the data collection going on these days could this be happening?
