Looking for options on insurance for a Mercedes GLE
Discussion
The insurance on my 2022 Mercedes GLE is up for renewal in 3 weeks, and I’m looking around for renewal quotes.
I paid £2k with Aviva last year, who now want £3k at renewal. I’ve got quotes from Admiral & Elephant for around £2k via the comparison sites, but there are a number of mainstream insurers, such as LV or Churchill, who won’t provide a quote because of the car itself.
The GLE is a mild hybrid, and I presume that some insurers don’t want to quote because of the EV element of the car. Is this a thing?
I am not aware that Mercedes cars are being affected by theft in the same way as Range Rovers, which has caused some RR’s to become uninsurable.
Anyway, the point of this post is to ask other GLE owners who they are insured with so that I can find out which insurers to approach for additional quotes.
Thanks for any help or advice.

If you can get cover for the same price as last year with a big insurer I'd run with it. My CLS 350d SB is insured with Tesco, renewal due next month so will brace myself...
I have wondered if "keyless go" might start to affect premiums on Mercs, but no evidence so far.
Just check that the cover is like for like... I've noticed insurers sneakily removing add-ons such as windscreen cover etc.

Car insurance premiums have continued to rise significantly in 2024 vs 2023. This is car insurance in general. I paid £2k with Aviva last year, who now want £3k at renewal. I just looked at a thread on a MB owners forum with UK owners even driving 8 year old MB diesels saying their renewal in 2024 is 50-100% more than 2023 premium.

We renewed with Directline. Everything exactly the same as the previous year. The price doubled. They 'accidentally' left off commuting cover. Twice.Forums | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
