AutoAid renewal is high

I've had the renewal through at 80 odd quid.

Looking on comparisons it's 30 odd cheaper with alternatives.

And then a new policy with AA 64 quid online.

Is this just worth going somewhere else/starting a new policy?

They have gone up. Mines around £90 for personal cover for two of us.

Then £25 per call out due to cars being over 10 years old.

your £30 cheaper places...do they cover any car you are in /and the spouse?

i dare say a single car policy might be cheaper but for anything you are driving ?

Totally agree.

Ours covers breakdown (person not car) mobile phone etc etc.

With Autoaid, it's cheaper to not renew, and take a new policy using the link on this page, https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/breakd...

Maybe it’s longer ago than I think, but I had Autoaid for a couple of years and I’m sure it was around £20.

If you use Topcashback, they offer £16 cashback on a new policy. I swapped email addresses at renewal time last year to take advantage of it.

That's who we use now. I' ve cancelled our normal AA membership and we just use this. The wife used it a while ago after a puncture in the MX5 and it was painless.

I recently switched to Rescue My Car. I nearly didn’t bother and would just call a local breakdown company, should I need to. I used AutoAid once in about 6 or 7 years and they were good however.

I run two 20+ year old cars and have been an AutoAid customer for the last seven years or so.

Their decision to impose a £25 'excess' on callouts seems a huge own goal to me.

I've gone with Start Rescue (personal cover) - no hidden costs. Got 17% off via MSE.

Next year, we'll have to see.

My car is 17, so it felt like being doubly penalised by AutoAid with a higher annual premium and also an excess to pay in the event of a call-out. It usually struggles to do 1k miles a year (although is my only car atm, but probably won’t stay that way).
