Camping with a performance car

Would you avoid it due to concerns of somebody trying to rob your keys in the night?

The campsite at Le Mans is full of expensive cars,they are all there in the morning, if you’re worried hide them in your pants!

Funny you should mention Le Mans. On one occasion, I recall a tent being cut in the night and keys removed……

Camping alone or with friend?. If there is a group of you swap the keys around so that the keys are held by another tent. I wouldn't have thought it is a major issue as you can keep the keys inside your sleeping bag.

Taken our C63S Coupe camping a few times and not had any issues other getting my wife to reduce what she’s packing. It’s been to Le Man, Silverstone and a few sites along the south coast. Key goes in a metal pouch thing the same as it does at home and is kept with wallet, watch and phone in the tent.

I hadn’t even thought about it until now…….

Don't park the car immediately next to the tent. Few will know which tent the keys are in if it's not parked up right next to it.

Valuables go in the car boot, keys in the pocket with you... Never had an issue

This. Keys never out of sight / to hand and I can't see an issue.

I was thinking that; are there sneaky types combing the Lake District, slicing open tents in the same way that snots used to get into convertibles?

If it's "urban camping" then embrace the traditions associated with that activity; park-up miles away, 3lt of Mr Frosty and sleep soundly. You may lose your keys, but you won't care.

We went camping with our VX220 around France and Italy back when they were quite new (2004- 2006) Never had an issue...

Car keys always kept in trouser pocket....

Depends where you are camping. Many leave their keys in the ignition/car here, as nobody steals them.

(And we have a lot of campers).

Bury them a couple of feet down in a metal box under your sleeping area.

I was there opposite that tent and saw the aftermath, also a trail of destruction where cars were vandalised.

I've taken my M4 on several UK camping trips with no issues

Swallow the keys just before going to sleep

Retrieve them in the morning whilst reading the paper.

Former vx200 owner it’s not like they had much room for anything let alone a camping trip!
