Do you own a Band M road tax car?

I was having a look for what's about in the market that might be interesting and the cars that I like are coming back as Band M road tax which is an eye-watering £735 per year.
It's enough to put me off buying any of them which is incredibly sad when the cars must be lovely to have.
Do any of you own a Band M car, if so which one, and are you going to keep it no matter how high these taxes go? Apparently it rose by £40 this year so assume the same next year.
If the taxes keep going up just imagine how many nice cars will rot away and be scrapped despite being worth thousands.

It's funny because there's people on here that swear blind it makes no difference and is a small part of the overall cost of ownership.It's enough to put me off buying any of them which is incredibly sad when the cars must be lovely to have.

It was a major reason why I got rid of my Touareg. £500+ then, I assume now more than that. Just not worth it.

Atleast that stops after 6 years though.It's not paying £700 a year to run a £1500 shed.

I pay it on the E63. I'm justifying it (and the other running costs to be fair) on the basis that the car hasn't really depreciated in four years and also I like it. I'd certainly not want to be paying it on something more ordinary or still depreciating and there's no way I'd pay it for a weekend car. I'm sure it puts people off buying big-engined stuff between 2006 and 2017 but lots of them seem to take it into account now in their prices, so you can get a lot of car for the money although I suspect they're still tough to sell.
Had a boxster 986, Nissan 350z and bmw z4... all were band m but old enough to be counted as a band k. Now in a boxster 987, which also just squeaks into an k because it's a 2005.
I'd rather not pay £700+ in tax to run a relatively old car, but feel I can avoid it no longer. Next car will likely be a Nissan 370z or an Audi r8, both firmly band m. Just have to suck it up if I want the car.
On the other hand planning to swap my 330d for a 120d which is only £35 a year, which should offset things.

I bought an Audi A6 Allroad this year for work. It really is a very good car. Everything works. It stands me in £1400 with a years ticket.
My man-maths says that it is costing me about £1 a day more than my outgoing van, or my BMW 645. I think that's value. It amounts to half a pint of beer every two days or so in a pub.
The value of the car is somewhat irelevent to me, especially as there is zero depreciation.

I've got 2 of them, golf R32 and an A4 cab 3.2. whilst not ideal, they are both summer only cars and sorn over winter which keeps costs down. It's frankly a ridiculous amount based on the mileage they do but I've always been of the mind that if you want nice things, you have to pay for them. At the age/price point the cars are at now it just feels like the government is taking the piss but since when is that a new concept.

Yes you have to pay for manufacturing and design, but this is a tax that just keeps going up it is not giving you anything in return (same pot holes etc). If paying a premium road tax meant you got to drive on better roads alongside better cars then that might make sense.Yup. I generally use it six months a year so £367.50 although I do also do that monthly so about £400 . It’s an RX-8 R3 so accepting the higher tax is something you have to do if you want one (early RX-8s are lower cost though due to being pre 23/03/06).

I run a Lexus RC F which is a band M car. The tax is just part of the (not inconsiderable) cost of ownership.
It wasn't a factor in purchasing decisions, but maybe it will be when I come to sell it. However, I am hoping for little or nil depreciation over the next few years, but maybe that's wishful thinking!
Helps that it's my only car, and mileage is well under 10k a year.

I own two. It stings a bit, yes, but if it's on some absolute rip snorting 500bhp monster you don't mind so much but in the past I've had 270bhp V6s and other middling stuff in band M and that really smarts.
I'm sure it'll lead to the total extinction of mid market mid sized sheds like 170bhp 2.4 litre Volvos.
