Tremendous Skoda Felicia Fun for sale

Today, there are plenty of lifestyle pick ups around. As the trucks have become better over the years and the tax breaks retained, so the appeal has increased for double cabs. Trouble is they’re all so serious, so big, and so aggressive. Trucks like the Ranger Raptor and GR Hilux are undoubtedly great, but they can seem a bit OTT for little old Britain. 

This, on the other hand, is much more like it - a pick up so fun it was in the name. The Skoda Felicia Fun was only sold in yellow, marketed with young people in zany shirts having a great time, and aimed to be nothing less than ‘a fun companion for leisure activities’. Who wouldn’t fancy one of those? With the sun out and Olympic fever in full flow, it isn’t hard to imagine yourself as a surfer, skater, BMXer or something similarly sporty behind the wheel of a Felicia Fun. 

With pals, too. The USP of the Fun was its emergency seats, offering up twice the carrying capacity of a standard Felicia pickup ‘in just a few steps’. While it’s very far from plush back there (but is most certainly very yellow), there are seatbelts and a wind deflector. It’ll be enough for getting all four of you to and from the sea. If the sea isn’t too far away. 

There was a Favorit Fun before this truck, that one so well received that a Felicia Fun followed at the Geneva show in 1995. Between ‘95 and August 2000, more than 4,000 were sold. Things really were more fun in the 1990s. Skoda’s general information on the Fun says there was a 64hp diesel plus 50hp and 75hp petrol available, though we have in mind that the UK only received the most powerful engine (Fun fans, correct us if we’re wrong!)

This one has lived a life, covering almost 120,000 miles since 1998. That being said, it still presents well, with a decent looking load bay, very much still vibrant paint and mini bull bar intact. The interior would benefit from a spruce up, with the yellow accents now a tad faded. Probably only to be expected from a cheap and cheerful commercial vehicle that’s more than 25 years old. Everything is there that needs to be, importantly, including yellow sun visors and even yellow backed dials that Porsche would probably charge £500 for. Even needing a bit of TLC, it’s hard not to smile. And we need more cars that do that. 

This one is for sale at £4,490; hard to know whether that represents great value or not, given the rarity of all Felicias now. If a Fun is something that appeals, you’re going to have it, and be the best mate your friends have ever had. PH being PH, there is another yellow Skoda pickup for sale, it offering 100,000 fewer miles than this one for £10,000 more. Quite the find, though you’re surely unlikely to fully embrace the fun side of a Fun with such a pristine one. This example looks ready for whatever summer adventure is coming next, complete with a fresh, advisory-free MOT just this week. Which way to the beach?

That is brilliant. I had forgotten all about these, though I really only recall the ads with all the zany kids having fun...

I love that the occasional back seats slide forward into the cabin - though there are no pictures that I can see.

For £4.5k that would be great for the FOTU - at the more exceptional end.

Used to go past one of these on the way to school when I was a kid. I started in 99 and finished in 2005 - was there the whole time.
According to google maps it kicked around until 2012 - so assume the owner had it from new.

How boring have cars got now? I know this is an exception to the rule but look at the colour of it, those seats are wild as well, frogs with crowns. I love it just because of how fun it is. You could buy it and tone it down a little bit with a change of wheels but I suppose that totally defeats the point? Just googled and didn't realise with the rear cab on you can still use the seats, they don't look the most comfortable but I have to say it's a pretty practical truck. Reckon the wife would flip if I chopped her car in for it but I guarantee the kids would absolutely love it.

Used to laugh at the concept of these when they were current, but, to me, they are now rather cool.

Not something I would own, but like the fact they are available and there is a market for them.

Yes with the top fitted you could still use the rear seats.

This would be great for a hot country, for trips to town and the beach and generally not caring too much about. A bit like the Mehari and the Mini Moke used to be before they became collectors items.

There's one of these at the 'Yellow House' near where I live...



Just gone back to 2012 on Google Maps and it's still there! So playing the long game with this one. I think at it's peak, there was about 5 yellow cars on the drive.
